How do you use clay tools. The lubricant allows the clay particles to lift and be re-deposited in an even tighter read glossier here matrix. But I most often use razor blades to scrape paint sealer or resin from the ceramic tiles that I use as a palette and work surface. Or use them to slice snakes of clay into even lengths.

Most modeling clay is air drying though you can bake it if you want it to dry faster. Poke you clay in circular motion to create nice texture. Luckily this is easy to test pull off a small piece of the clay you intend to use and roll it in your hand until it forms a cylinder about 1cm in diameter and about 10cm long.

Burnishing is easiest when the clay is wet slightly with a lubricant. You can use a rotary tool to drill holes into polymer clay. It cannot be air-dried and it cannot be microwaved.
